New Release: Paradisi Amarillo Hazy Grapefruit IPA

Smooth and citrussy with a pithy and appealing bitter finish, this golden haze truly is a thing of glory. Redolent with fresh grapefruit and the intense tropical flavours of Citra and Amarillo shimmering across the palate, it’s one tasty, tasty ticket to paradise.

Juicy IPA and haze lovers, raise your hands in celebration as the good beer gods above rain down a divine spray of flavour with Akasha’s Paradisi Amarillo. Fresh grapefruit brings the stonefruit soul to the fore, with carefully selected Citra and Amarillo hops working in tandem to harmonise those fresh fruit flavours. It’s like nothing we’ve ever brewed before, and we’re super excited for you to try it.

One reason is that in a fit of madness/holy inspiration, we’ve elected to forgo the use of bittering hops and rely instead on the fresh, citrussy bitterness of the natural grapefruit – letting it be the star of the show, and giving the drinker a chance to experience and engage with this most beautiful fruit, known by true nerds as the forbidden fruit, or citrus x paradisi.

The fruit itself tells quite the story, of one Captain Shaddock sailing the Caribbean, selling early hybrids he called (inventively enough) shaddocks. Whatever its origins, it makes for an incredibly elemental ingredient; intense, elegant, enchanting… we’ve brewed with grapefruit before and it’s always proved popular, but this time we can’t wait to see how it hangs in a hazy style.

At 7% ABV, it’s a sipper, not a smasher, though the temptation is there. This is a juicy beauty of a beer that would be ideal enjoyed at Friday night drinks, or at a rooftop bar in the late afternoon on an unseasonably warm winter day. Wherever you choose to consume it, it’s a stunner – just look at that can!
