One of the things we’re most proud of here at Akasha is our history of supporting causes and people that are important to us. One such cause is the annual celebration of over 50% of the world’s population that takes place each International Women’s Day.

From 2021’s Frida (a hat-tip to artist Frida Kahlo) to 2022’s Nas (in conjunction with ABC disability reporter Nas Campanella), it’s been Akasha’s custom to team up with Reckless Brewing Co. each year to brew something a little special for IWD.

This year is no different. Join as we welcome Helen XPA to the stage! A tribute to Helen Reddy, the iconic Australian singer who changed the world through the power of song, it’s a glorious hop forward drop with a shimmering palate of tropical notes atop a classic red ale backbone – and it drinks like a melody brought to life.

We’re especially chuffed with this one as in the year since our last collaboration, Reckless co-founder Grace Fowler – formerly of the Akasha family and brewery team – has taken Reckless from strength to strength, now with its own dedicated home in Bathurst.

It’s a testament to that same vision, power and grit that Helen sang of in her world-conquering song, ‘I Am Woman’. And after all, Akasha simply wouldn’t be where we are today without the women in our team and in our lives.

International Women’s Day is also an opportunity for Akasha to put our money where our mouth is and help out our community partners, as we do with our Akasha Gives program in support of grassroots endeavours in and around our region.

This year, proceeds from the sale of Helen will be donated to Central West Women’s Health Centre, which offers a unique, holistic women-centred preventative and treatment approach to health and well-being. Learn more about their important work here.

So grab yourself a glass and raise a toast in honour of International Women’s Day with Helen XPA. Because making the world a better place begins with the recognition that each of us has value beyond measure, and that equality is worth working towards.
